Top Hat Tour

WE TAKE OUR HAT OFF TO KENNY WAX PRODUCTIONS.

Thanks to a brave move in staging such a lavish production, we are delighted to be a part of a hugely successful touring theatrical production, Top Hat. The remake of the 1935 musical premiered on August 16^th and was rewarded with a standing ovation – the first of one at every performance since!

The premiere was also attended by Ava Astaire Mckenzie, the daughter or Fred Astaire who loved it. There are now rumours that RKO and Irving Berlin’s office in New York are going to give the all clear for Top Hat to go into the West End, once it finishes its nineteen week UK tour. 

The show is being moved around in 8 of our Mega trailers, needed as they have up to 10’6” internal height.

Luckings have been involved behind the scenes in many major hits. Of course for us every client show, whether small scale or grand spectacular is given the same care and commitment.  We have helped many different shows tour and have delighted in the success of every single one of them from Annie to We Will Rock You, we are here to help you with your trucking needs. Luckings has been on hand to help make sure that the transport and storage in between venues goes as smoothly as possible.  Of course we are also involved in delivering sets and props for many static shows all over the UK.  You will often see our trucks, big and small in the West End and in towns from Woking to Cities such as Manchester.  Over the summer we worked on Shrek and Ghost going into London and delivered a large scale production of South Pacific to the Barbican. We have also been busy moving BBC departments from London’s White City to their new facility in Manchester, where we have been awarded a 3 year storage contact from the BBC.  This will be run from our own Manchester facility.

Whilst theatrical moving is a key part of what we do we are also very active in all aspects of the entertainment industry from television support to Live Events, Rock and Pop and European road shows and exhibitions.  We believe that our proactive approach and “never say never” attitude is why our portfolio of clients and business has been expanding over the last year.  Consequently in recent months we have welcomed three new staff members, Sarah Scorer, Paula Holloway and Nikita Dooner. Sarah and Paula are based at our southern transport and storage depot working within the traffic department so if you ever need that female touch, you know who to ask for!  Nikita is based at our London head office and is working with the sales and marketing team and due to his fluency in French and Russian strengthens our ability to undertake European communications if needed on our clients behalf. 

For several years we have been active across Europe and Russia and are happy to transport your goods anywhere.  We can now assist with multiple staff members speaking Russian, French, Italian, Polish and Dutch.  We like to think that we can go that little bit further if needed.  On a recent 5 truck show to Moscow with a requirement to send in oversized trailers and the securing of multiple permits and visas, our drivers and our client relied heavily upon these linguistic skills.

It seems that our services can be called in from any quarter.  Moving museum pieces or works of art in security trailers, on flat beds or in taut liners is all part of what we offer.  Recently we were able to help South pacific transport an unusual item, the fuselage of a World War II plane. This presented a few logistical problems, specifically the length of the plane and the difficulty of strapping down the circular fuselage. However we managed overcome these difficulties and the delivery was completed without any problems.
